IAMS is one of the safest bets for your cat when introducing new food. Iams comes in about 2 dozen varieties. In addition to a good variety of flavors, Iams sells products designed to address medical concerns and issues with your cat such as urinary tract infections fur-ball, inflammatory bowel disease, weight problems, allergies, diabetes, skin & coat and sensitive stomachs. From persona experience, I can tell you that cats seem to instantly love Iams from the day they were kittens. In fact, my two cats liked it so well that I could never get them to eat anything else. I should mention that Iams is only a notch above cheap commercial cat food as far as quality and nutrition. (Is Purina Cat Food really so bad? 
) Iams contains a fair amount of grains which is not considered healthy by some vets and animal nutrition experts. Iams also contains some by-products. To me, by products are a naturally healthy part of an animal's diets, so I wouldn't let that scare me away from Iams Cat Food. It seems it is impossible to get my own two cats away from Iams these days.
To be honest, Iams Cat Food is on the higher-end of low-quality cat food, marketed in grocery stores as a healthy alternative to Friskies and other Cheap cat foods. If your cat exhibits any type of problems, it could be related to the high-grain content in IAMS. Iams cat food is like junk food for human beings; french fries, cereal bars, potato chips, etc., etc. Still, cats really seem to love Iams and some people swear their cats have been healthy for 20 years on this brand. If it works, don't knock it. As with any high-grain cat foods, monitor your cats weight closely. Cats with obesity problems are often eating high-grain cat foods. Many cat owners report that they only needed to switch their cat to a higher protein - less-grain diet to get their weight healthy again.

Iams Cat Food seems to be a very tasty dry cat food. All of my cats liked it, even the ones that were used to canned cat food.
