What Do Cats Like To Eat?
A cat's eating habits are not that different than ours. A cat likes variety and their appetite can even change based on what their body needs. They crave what they need. My 8 year old male cat was content for years, just eating Dry IAMS cat food out of a bowl. Gradually, he began begging us is the kitchen every morning and evening. Eventually, he became so persistent that he was jumping on the tables. One day I found him licking the butter tray on the cupboard and trying to get to the eggs on the stove. It seemed to me that he was no longer being satisfied with the cat food we were giving him. I dreaded the idea of going back to canned food, but one day we gave him some Friskies out of a can just to see how he would like it. To our amazement, he wouldn’t touch it. That is when I decided to explore quality, all-natural cat foods. I went to the local pet store and bought a bag of Solid Gold Dry and a variety of all of the other premium canned foods you will see on these pages: Wellness Canned Cat Food, Nature’s Logic, Best Feline Friend, Weruva, By-Nature, California Natural and Royal Canin Cat Food. The pet store recommended variety and that’s what we got! My cat liked some of these foods, disliked others and absolutely loved a few of them. A little Secret: Save the labels of the cat foods your cat has tried. Write notes on the back of each label concerning how well your cat did or didn’t like each brand. Then, you can prepare a one-page summary of what cat foods to buy and which ones not to buy. Having a variety of different brands will increase the odds of getting the proper balance of nutrition in your cat’s lifelong diet.
